01 / The challenge

Start with the business problem.

An electrical contractor wanted to reduce repetitive office work while keeping the systems and working knowledge its team relied on. Before committing to a build, it needed to understand how information moved from an incoming order to a completed job and an invoice.

The question was practical: which tasks were suitable for automation, which needed better processes, and where would a change make the most difference?

02 / Our approach

Make each step count.

  1. 01

    Follow the actual work

An on-site walkthrough traced the handoffs between the inbox, job records, engineer notes, invoicing and supporting spreadsheets.

  2. 02

    Check the underlying evidence

Read-only operational data analysis helped test assumptions about workload and identify dependencies that a conversation alone could miss.

  3. 03

    Prioritise the opportunities

The diagnostic assessed value, feasibility and urgency. It separated the recommended sequence from ideas to defer and actions that needed no new software.

  4. 04

    Make the next decision clearer

The roadmap set out phased concepts, indicative costs, dependencies and approval points, giving the business a basis for deciding what to implement.

03 / What changed

A practical basis for the next decision.

The completed deliverable was an operations diagnostic, opportunity map and phased roadmap. It connected the business problem to specific next steps rather than starting with a preferred tool.

Human approval remained part of the proposed financial and operational workflows. The client could use the roadmap with Elevate, its own team or another delivery provider.

What this demonstrates

This story describes completed consulting work. Implementation concepts and estimated benefits in the roadmap are proposals, not measured automation results. Client identity and internal operational figures are omitted.
